Sheep breeders since 2000 we have specialized since 2015 in producing 100% natural Finnish breed sheep wool. The wool comes from our sheep farm here in Saint-Francois-Xavier-de Brompton in the Eastern Townships.

New for 2022: We transform wool into fertilizer for your various needs: gardening, container gardening, indoor plants, lawns, trees and shrubs, etc.

Our breeding

Our sheep farm consists of 160 Finnish ewes, 25 Finnish/Wensleydale crossbred ewes and 7 Wensleydale ewes. I take care of my sheep every day to ensure a good wool harvest.

For example, it is necessary to reduce the number of sheep per pen to avoid felting the wool. And many other elements are necessary to obtain quality fiber. To harvest beautiful wool, we have to make concessions in terms of breeding, which means we can’t do the same things as conventional sheep producers.

To find out more, you can meet me for a visit where I can answer all your questions and show you how I work in the sheepfold. If you would like to know more about my rates, please send me a message.

Transforming wool – Discovery day

*Good news: if the situation remains the same, we’ll do it again in May 2025. Follow us on our Facebook page to find out the new date and time of our upcoming day. *

Day organized once a year in May at the farm. This day was born of the growing demand to visit the sheepfold and the desire to publicize the long process of wool transformation. As we’re busy during the summer months, spring was the ideal time. Notre première édition a eu lieu en 2018 et 150 personnes y ont participé. Nous avons refait une 2e édition en 2019 et ce fut encore un franc succès. Dû à la pandémie nous n’avons pas refait cet évènement.

During the day, people can discover the different stages of processing, starting with a sheep-shearing demonstration, and working their way up to the making of a beautiful yarn.

Then there are the various kiosks on everything you can do with what a sheep produces: sheep’s milk cheese, lamb meat, knitting, felting, spinning, stocking knitting with stocking knitting machine, arrow belts and more.

And finally, people could have their photo taken with a lamb and take a tour of the sheepfold.

A day when all knitters and spinners are invited to practice their art outdoors or near the sheep.

Transforming wool – Les Granulaines

France Custeau and Louis Desrosiers are the owners of Les Granu-Laines. We make our own fertilizing wool granules using only sheep’s wool. La laine provient de notre élevage et de celle des producteurs de notre région.
